1. Chief – A political leader of a social group, such as a band, tribe or confederacy of tribes.
2. Clan Mother – Elder women of a clan or a tribe who are in charge of appointing Tribal Chiefs
3. Faith Keeper – Person responsible for ceremonial preparations, weddings, funerals and other rituals.
4. Powwow – A Native ceremony (as for victory in war). A Native social gathering or fair usually including competitive dancing
5. Tribe – A group comprised of numerous families, clans or generations
6. Clan – A group of people tracing descent from a common ancestor. A group united by a common interest or characteristic
7. Sweat Lodge – A hut, lodge or cavern heated by steam from water poured on hot stones and used especially by natives for ritual and therapeutic sweating and cleansing
8. Vision Quest – A solitary vigil by an adolescent Native boy to seek spiritual power, and learn through a vision the identity of his animal/bird spirit guardian
9. Reservation – A tract of land set aside for use by Native People
